Go Illini!! - posted on: February 1, 2005, 10:03 pm

I just got back from watching the Illini-Michigan State game. Once the firstfew minutes were over, the Illini never lost the lead. They just kept hitting their threes :)They just keep on getting better and better. Luther Head is definitely on my list as player of the year... I think I'm going to have to watch every game from this point on (I already have been watching most of them). Good luck against Indiana on Sunday!!

More 24 - posted on: January 19, 2005, 9:34 pm

This week's 24 was pretty good, I liked the suspense with the secretary of state. I love how the show is taking current events happening in Iraq and adding that extra twist of having them happen in America. Don't get me wrong, I don't want any of that to happen here, but it makes for great television. I think the buildup for next week was awesome, but the sideplots are starting to annoy me...I still don't get why clowee (sp?) is such a big part of this season, and why her character was suddenly taken away. I hate the little side plot between the two black characters. Why is it that every black woman on the show has to be evil and conniving? You'd think that some people might get offended at that. Also, the side plot between the CTU director, driscoll, and her daughter is retarded... literally... haha, bad joke, I'm sorry! Seriously, I think it adds nothing to the plot and just makes the story even more convoluted. How in the world are they going to make that fit into the main story?? I hope it goes away. I can't wait till next week, Jack is going to go on a rampage!! Remember, its on Monday at 8 pm on Fox :)

I think I'm going to start a 24 blog... I wonder if it will work.

I like how Fox handled the premier of the new season of 24. It was split into 2, 2 hour segments on Sunday and Monday. It gave you just enough action and information to get you pumped about the rest of the season. Suzanne thinks that 2 hours is too much because it’s too stressful, but I love it!! I can't get enough :) And now for some thoughts about the plot... I sorta like the fact that Jack has moved on from CTU and that he's found love again. However, I don't like that his daughter (Elisha Cuthbert) is not on the show anymore... that used to be the main reason I watched the show. I don't really like the new president, and I think that Jack's new girlfriend is way too skinny (she doesn't look human). I do like the new terrorist plot, because it mirrors current events and adds a twist. I also like the acting of the secretary of defense... I wish I would act that way if I were in captivity. He's strong in the face of great adversity. I can't wait to watch next week! Who's up for a 24 party?

Happy New Year! - posted on: January 2, 2005, 7:43 pm

I hope everyone had a great new year! I certainly did... I started the evening off by taking my girlfriend, Suzanne, to Gibson's steak house. We had a great dinner there, and then went back to the Westin Ohare (where we had a room). It was a nice suite that her dad set up for us. There was a bottle of champaign in the room, so I opened it up and poured a couple glasses for us. After having a little of the champaign, I asked Suzanne what her new years resolution was. She said something about not swearing and then asked me what mine was. I responded by saying that I wanted to start the new year right, and make her my wife. I got down on one knee and proposed to her. She started crying and said yes!! After hanging out together for a little while, we headed over to the Q101 party at the Hyatt Regency Ohare. We met a bunch of our friends there and partied the night away. I'll never forget the moment right before new year, when everyone rushed the dance floor and started counting down the seconds till midnight. The music was right, the drinks were flowing and I was with my new fiance. What a great night!

Go Bears!! - posted on: December 8, 2004, 11:03 pm

Over the weekend I was lucky enough to be able to go see the Chicago Bears play the Minnesota Vikings. I was expecting Chicago to get blown out of the water, but that didn't exactly happened. What did happen is that the Bears found themselves a capable quarterback, and started to learn how to finally score. It was alot of fun to watch because of the great seats (40 yard line) thanks to my friend quinn... We had a chance to go earlier in the year to the Bears vs. Colts game... I'm glad we picked this one!

Indy 4!? - posted on: December 4, 2004, 2:01 pm

I caught this in slashdot. Apparently, Harrison Ford will star in a new Indiana Jones. While this is exciting news for some, I think that its a bad move on his part. He's gotta be over 50... I can't imagine him running around playing Indiana Jones, running all over the place. Will the whole move take place in a library? Wrong move Harrison! I do like that he said he was open to having other people play the role. Who would could play Indy? I vote for Matt Damon.

Megadeth Show... - posted on: November 20, 2004, 1:17 pm

I went to see Megadeth at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago yesterday. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed in the show. Their new album was a step in the right direction, and I was hoping that the show would reflect that. The first few songs were from the new album, and were good songs... but the sound quality was horrible. I'm thinking that the production and support crew were to blame for that, because after a few songs the sound got a little bit better. Also, when Dave Mustane changed his guitar, the songs started to sound better... I'm thinking the first guitar was really out of tune.

The show did get better for a while after that. However, towards the end of the show the playing of the lead guitarist started to get to me. Not only was he not as talented as the previous guy (Marty Friedman), he kept playing the same solos over and over thoughout the different songs. So it ruined the songs for me, and it drowned out Dave Mustane's great singing and playing. I was impressed by the bassist and the drummer, but the lead guitarist has got to go.

Also, toward the end of the night, my girlfriend got yelled at by a bartender for not tipping him. I thought that was really shitty of him to do that to her, and it ruined the night for us... I mean seriously, a tip is for good service, not for handing out 5 dollar beers at a concert. Anyway, I hope that Megadeth comes around again, but with a new lead guitarist.

Firefox 1.0 is out!! - posted on: November 9, 2004, 4:49 pm

If you haven't already checked it out, be sure to try Mozilla Firefox. It's a browser that makes surfing the internet fun again. You don't have to deal with popups, IE's annoying quirks and crashes... and it has tabbed window browsing (keeps all your loaded pages in one window). Best of all its free, so you don't have to pay anything to try it out!

Drew's Away Message - posted on: November 3, 2004, 6:31 pm

This is my friend Drew's away message:

why cant the majority of this country realize that living in a country run by an imperialistic, arrogant, ignorant, ultra right wing homophobe is a bad thing?

I tend to agree with him. I'm just glad Alan Keyes didn't win.

Red Sox - posted on: October 28, 2004, 12:01 pm

With the baseball season finally winding down, I'd like to acknowledge the champions of my second least favorite professional sport (after Nascar). Congradulations Red Sox, you did what the Cubs couldn't do over the past couple years even though they had the talent. Here's to the Cubs clearing their roster of dead weight (Sosa, Alou, Garciapara...), picking up some good, talented young players and winning the world series next year.

Btw. White Sox Suck.

A Mini Review - posted on: October 8, 2004, 6:50 pm

Here's a quick mini-review of the newest Megadeth album, the System Has Failed:

Dave Mustaine certainly outdid himself on this album. After the last few albums it looked as if Megadeth was on its way into obscurity. This album is a return to form, and it brings back all the things that were once good about megadeth. I love the new guitar work, drumming and even dave's vocals. His songs are top notch and the writing is pretty good. I like how he sings about things that are going on in the world and things that are going on with him. Its a good balance. Welcome Back Megadeth!

Trent Reznor and the Doom III soundtrack - posted on: July 21, 2004, 6:17 pm
