Mar 27, 2005 - 22:47 | + 7 - 2 ILL-INI

I think this says it all. Congrats to the Illini on overcoming a 15 point deficit and beating a very tough Arizona team (sorry Adam)!!!

Mar 26, 2005 - 12:42 | + 9 - 1 Why Madden (the game) rocks

So I'm losing to the Detroit Lions... my vaunted combo of the arm of Rex Grossman and the legs of Thomas Jones are both getting stopped. The Lions recovered 3 fumbles which all led to scores. I'm down by 21... time is running out. I score 2 tds, but I'm still down one. With 10 seconds left, the Lion's QB throws a bad pass right to Brian Urlacher. I run him back with Lion's players right on my back. With the clock at zero, Urlacher makes a despiration dive for the enzone... TOUCHDOWN!!!

Awesome.

Mar 24, 2005 - 23:25 | + 7 - 2 Illini and the Office

First off, congrats to the Illini for making it to the elite 8. I'm proud that they didn't let wisconsin-milwaukee's bull shit fouling and cherry picking stop them from winning a game that they should have won by alot more. Bruce Pearl is a douche, his coaching style reflects that, and the play of his team proves it. I've never seen a team do so much to try and overcome the obvious lack of talent that they have like uw-milwaukee. Bring on Arizona!

Second, I got to see the new "americanized" version of the Office on NBC after the game. I've been a big fan of the BBC version of the Office and I've watch every single episode. I'm pretty disappointed with the way it was translated for american audiences. It seems like there was no new writing done on the new show. Most of the lines are exactly the same, with just a few references changed so that american audiences get them. While the show did have its moments... the stapler in the jello gets me every time, the bad acting and writing overcame a solid foundation. Also, I don't think that they picked the right actors for the parts. The one that really annoys me is the garrett replacement... I can't picture the guy they have being as big of a dork as the real garrett... maybe he'll grow on me (doubt it). I hope that the show improves, because I really like the premise. I wonder why it has taken this long to have a big time network have an "office environment" comedy on the air again.

Update:
I've watched a few more episodes of the office, and I have to correct a few things that I said above. The acting has gotten a little bit better, the story has gotten a little bit more original (when compared with the original BBC office), and overall the show has gotten funnier. It has become one of my 'regular' shows (along with 24, Scrubs, and Family Guy). I hope it keeps getting better!

Mar 23, 2005 - 00:09 | + 9 - 1 Poker

You gotta love it when you spend 3 hours playing Texas Holdem with at 5 dollar buy in, just to get 5 dollars back when it's all over.

Mar 18, 2005 - 23:37 | + 7 - 3 Angst

I'm sitting here after a few beers and I'm feeling pretty shitty. Maybe its because of the headache that's throbbing through my head... or maybe its because I don't know what to do with myself. I have a good job and a great woman that I'm engaged to. It seems like I have alot going for me but I'm not content... I feel as if I'm still looking for that one thing I could get lost in. That one thing that I could get so involved with, that it would make my life have some sort of meaning. All my life I've bounced around, from one interest to another. I've liked doing many things, but I'm still at a loss for what I truely love doing. I know I love solving problems, and that lends itself to engineering... but its not what I want to do for the rest of my life. What can I do that will make a difference in the long run? What can anybody do? Even respected scientists spend their entire lives researching without ever coming up with a world changing discovery. Are we all meant to just exist? There's got to be more to it then that. I need to find something to do that will make a difference in the world, even a little one. It could be something that is as simple as an idea, or as complex as a life's worth of time donated toward a cause... but it needs to happen soon. I'm restless.

Mar 14, 2005 - 14:29 | + 6 - 3 Skiing in Chesnut

I got to head out to Galena this weekend to go skiing with Suzanne and my family. We skiied (sp?) at a resort called chestnut mountain. While I've been there before, I didn't exactly remember how all the trails went, so it was a nice little change of pace from the places I normally go to (Wilmot/Alpine Valley).

I also didn't snowboard this time, I tried skiing... It's been 6 years since I last went skiing, so it was a little nerve racking at first. I eventually did get the hang of it and got a chance to work on my technique a little bit. I know you're supposed to keep your skis parallel during the hole time down the mountain, but its easier said than done. Also, I still have to decide if I want to ski or snowboard more. I like both, but its getting harder and harder to snowboard. My knees aren't what they used to be! I guess I can do both while I still can.

Suzanne really impressed me with how well she was doing, considering she has only been skiing a few times in her life. I'm glad we got to go, because this was probably the last time this season we would be able to. The weather is getting too warm!! Till next year...

Mar 10, 2005 - 20:59 | + 5 - 4 Everything has a point.

So there I was trying to convince benson to start a new blog, and he off and tells me that there is no point to blogging. It got me thinking... why do I even do this? Is it because I want to share my thoughts on a daily basis? Do I want to have a place where I can call my own on the vast internet?

I think its a mixture of both, even though I don't post every day. I like sending links to people of things I have found on this pile of random junk we call the internet... and having this blog lets me put those links and thoughts all in one place. Its not about anything, it doesn't have to be... but if you care to know what I'm thinking, stop on by and have a look. It's the same kind of feeling that you get when you look at people's away messages, but a little bit more in depth. I think everyone should have a blog... a place to call there own on the internet.

Maybe that's why site's like facebook get so popular. People want to have a little business card that people can look at. Some people call it self-serving, they say that its a website all about one person. I like the thought of having that one person be the focus, and its not like you have to look at that blog all the time... Besides, blogs with multiple subjects usually don't work out well. There needs to be that main subject, otherwise the site turns into a mess of thoughts.

I guess I'm rambling on here, but I'll finish by saying start your own blog. Its really easy, you can do it at blogger or livejournal for free.

Mar 09, 2005 - 13:27 | + 6 - 2 IE bliss

I finally got the site looking normal in most browsers... Please let me know by posting a comment if the site looks weird at all. Thanks for your patience!

Mar 07, 2005 - 23:48 | + 3 - 5 Updates

First off, I realize that this site sucks in some versions of Internet Explorer and Opera... its a formatting issue that I'll take care of. The site looks great in firefox!

Also, I've decided to scrap the php script on the site that shows pictures. It's much too simple for what I need, and I can just use yahoo photos. I've already posted the new years pictures on that, with more to come. Check them out here!

09:28 | + 6 - 2 Illini

I had the unfortunate opportunity to watch the Illini-Ohio State basketball game yesterday. The Illini were winning the entire game, up until the very last minute when Ohio state's point guard, Matt Sylvester suddenly decided he was the next coming of Michael Jordan and hit the game winning 3 pointer with 5 seconds left. I was really disappointed with the way the Illini responded, they had a chance to drive to floor and score a quick layup to win. Instead they settled on a desperation 3 point attempt by Roger Powell, who is not a good 3 point shooter to begin with. Come on Illinois! Prove that you belong at #1! So much for an undefeated season... maybe next year.

Mar 02, 2005 - 21:49 | + 5 - 2 New Years Pictures

I finally got around to posting some pictures from New Years. Remember that this is the night that I proposed to suzanne... she seems quite happy!
