My buddy Brian posted some hints about getting "free" stuff at movie theatres... Here's a bit:

2) Bring in your cup or popcorn bag or bucket from the last time. Walk up to the counter and ask for a free refill. On the off chance that they'll be suspicious, have a little bit of popcorn in the bag still, or a little bit of ice in yer cup still. Make sure to save the lid from last time. Bad fakers won't have the previous lid. A true honest refiller will have his lid still on his cup or at the very least in his other hand. (note: this only works at theaters that provide free refills on the appropriate items)

Interesting approach, but I'd rather spend the 2.50 for a soda :)

Today is Serenity day, buy it on DVD now!!! Don't know what Serenity is? Check out this blurb from the wikipedia entry:

Serenity is a 2005 film written and directed by Joss Whedon. It is set in the universe of the cancelled Fox science fiction television series Firefly, taking place six months after the last episode. Like the television series that spawned it, Serenity is a science fiction Western, using elements of both genres.

This was easily the best film that I saw all year. Considering it was made for under 50 million dollars (a tiny amount compared to King Kong's budget of $207 million!!), it was surprising that it contained such a large amount of special effects and visuals. The acting was great and the story was the usual Joss Whedon awesome :) ... Buy/rent the DVD now so that more movies/tv series will be made!

+ 1 - 2 | § ¶GalaxyMage!

This certainly looks interesting! Someone people are developing an open source tactical RPG (think Final Fantasy Tactics) called GalaxyMage. Right now it's using alot of artwork from Wesnoth, but as it develops I'm sure it'll pick up some other gfx. Of course, they can keep the Wesnoth graphics and rename their project "Wesnoth tactics" or something like that... Here's a blurb from their homepage:

Our goal is to make GalaxyMage a game that is relatively simple to pick up and play -- you can dive right in without getting bogged down in the details of the battle mechanics -- but to also allow for a lot of character development and customization. We also intend to create a unique, advanced AI system that allows enemy units to work together as a team and employ a wide variety of strategies. And eventually, we plan on adding networked multiplayer support.

Simply... awesome :)

+ 3 - 0 | § ¶Grrr...site counter...

My stats counter that I wrote for the website keeps messing up. It logs all the info just fine most of the time, but everyonce in a while it resets itself. It's been happening more often recently, and it's pissing me off. I think I'll have to rewrite it so that it just grabs the info from my server logs instead of creating it's own text file. It might be a little slower, but who cares... this is my personal site.

In other news, I lost in all 3 of my fantasy football leagues. Since it was playoff time (usually in week 14-16 of NFL season), this has pretty much ended my fantasy season in all three leagues... At least I now have fantasy basketball to waste my time. I think I learned that being in multiple leagues kinda sucks and wastes alot of time. Next year I'll probably only be in 1 or 2.
