+ 1 - 1 | § ¶New Condo
I closed and moved into my new condo this weekend. I'm pretty tired after two days of heavy lifting... but once I get things up and running I'll be sure to post some shots of the new place. Thanks to everyone that helped!+ 2 - 1 | § ¶UIUC Trivia
First off some interesting trivia: guess which UIUC alumn won the oscar for Best Director in 2006... If you were thinking Ang Lee you were correct! Ang graduated from UIUC with a Bachelor's in Fine Arts in 1980. Congrats fellow alumn, you make us all proud!Second, UIUC has decided to change my beloved major (General Engineering) into some sort of crazy hybrid with industrial engineering... I hope they know what they're doing! Check out the details at: www.iese.uiuc.edu/
Finally, go here for some official desktop wallpaper shots of the UIUC campus.
+ 1 - 2 | § ¶Ubuntu 6.06 downgrade
I downgraded the installation of Ubuntu on my Thinkpad T30 from 6.06 to 5.10 yesterday. I never got the wireless driver in the kernel to work correctly in 6.06. It seems as if WEP encryption never worked right. The affected driver was 'airo'. I can live with a few bugs, but I need wireless to work on my laptop or else it's useless! Maybe I'll just 'upgrade' to regular Debian when I need to update my OS. By that time the debian stable release will probably be on par with Ubuntu (in terms of usability and default configuration).+ 0 - 2 | § ¶Return of the Pictures page
Since I have lots of pictures to share from the wedding and honeymoon, I've decided to restore the pictures page on the website. I used to have a page that just linked to my flickr site, but I didn't really like that approach. The new page generates a list of directories in the /albums/ directory on my site. There's still some tweaking left to do on the css/layout, but at least its up. Check back soon for pictures from the wedding!+ 2 - 0 | § ¶RAZR's Edge
This Forbes article covers the story behind the development of the Motorola RAZR. It's a very fascinating read, especially if you're into gadgets like I am. My favorite quote: "Digital pictures of the project were prohibited, so nothing could be inadvertently disseminated by e-mail. Models of the phone could leave the premises only when physically accompanied by a team member."+ 1 - 1 | § ¶Wedding and honeymoon update
Suzanne and I had a really nice wedding last weekend, I'll post more details about how it went on the wedding site, so check that out if you're interested: wedding.labowicz.com. Thanks for everyone who came, it was nice seeing everyone. We had a great time! Also, I've just uploaded a bunch of pictures from our honeymoon in Kauai, check out the set here. I've limited them to the cool landscape and scenery shots, and will probably post the others to the wedding picture website that I'm setting up (hopefully soon).
